Detroit, MI, USA, November 2, 2021- Whether experiencing the road like never before or red-lining it on the race track: the new Recaro Podium – the world’s first and lightest performance shell certified for street and track use – brings a unique driving feel to both worlds. Visitors to SEMA 2021 in Las Vegas can stop by booth #22334 in the Central Hall Racing & Performance area from November 2 to 5, 2021, to experience the shell first-hand and test-seat it.
Recaro Automotive, the world's leading manufacturer of premium vehicle seats, is presenting its latest high-end dynamic-sport product in a black and red Alcantara leather combination at SEMA 2021. Recaro offers the international audience the opportunity to test-seat the ultra-light shell in detail.
An exclusive selection of merchandising accessories and seats from Recaro Automotive's Dynamic, Race and Classic Collections round off the brand presentation at SEMA. With the Dynamic Collection, Recaro Automotive is presenting attractive articles that pick up on the stylish silhouette of the Recaro Podium. The Race Collection highlights the silhouette of the trusted Recaro “halo” race seats. While the the Classic Collection features the silhouette used in classic comfort seats typically used in heritage vehicles. The Recaro Automotive Collection is available alongside other lifestyle products such as office chairs in the official fan store at https://shopus.recaro-automotive.com/us.
The Recaro Podium envelops the body and protects it like a second skin. This approach is also apparent visually, with an innovative shell that is visible from all sides and has a pronounced contour that hews close to the body. In an innovative manufacturing process, the seat specialist combines high-strength, ultra-light high-tech foam in the shell core with a front and back shell made of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP). This makes the Recaro Podium the world's lightest retrofit seat with a general operating permit (ABE) for use in the area of road traffic regulations (StVO) and homologation 8855-1999 of the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) for racing competitions: without seat cover, the Recaro Podium weighs 4.3 kg.
Approved four-point belts can also be routed through the belt slots in the backrest for road use, and three-point belts can also be used in road-approved performance vehicles. In motorsports, such as GT, touring car and club competitions, the Recaro Podium is designed for the use of four-, five- and six-point belts, as well as for the use of HANS (Head and Neck Support) systems. The new upholstery concept with pads in two sizes (M and L) at the contact points between the body and the seat shell characterizes the attractive look of the Recaro Podium and allows individual color and material combinations. Borrowed from motorsport, this solution not only enables material and weight savings, but also provides passive seat climate control: air can circulate in the channels between the pads and through the shell openings.
With its pronounced lateral support, significantly shaped shoulder support and integrated headrest, the Recaro Podium offers an incomparably dynamic driving experience and provides direct feedback from the road at all times. As the first seat in the newly created category "car seat racing shell with road approval", the Recaro Podium has also been awarded the AGR seal of approval by the Aktion Gesunder Rücken (AGR) e. V. (Campaign for Healthier Backs). When purchasing back-friendly products, the AGR seal of approval is a reliable decision-making aid.
