Essen, November 29, 2019 – Opening a whole new dimension for sporty car drivers: the new RECARO Podium, as the world’s first performance seat to hold both a general operating permit (the German ABE) and an 8855-1999 homologation certificate from the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile), is approved both for motorsports and for the retrofitting of sporty performance vehicles. With its projecting side bolsters, intelligently contoured shoulder support and integrated headrest, the RECARO Podium offers an incomparably dynamic driving experience – and thanks to its sleek seat shell and firm upholstery with different pad sizes, it also provides direct feedback from the pavement at all times. The RECARO Podium carries the seal of quality from AGR e.V., the German Campaign for Healthier Backs, as the first product within the new AGR category “street-legal racing shell”. The AGR seal helps drivers choose back-friendly products.
To celebrate the legendary Nürburgring racetrack, RECARO Automotive Seating has created a special edition seat that’s limited to 999 units: the RECARO Sportster CS Nürburgring, combining premium leather in black and red for the seat cover, ultralight composites for the seat shell and high-end foam for the upholstery. Its dynamic look is further enhanced with red decorative stitching as well as sporty accent stripes on the backrest shell, in addition to the embroidered RECARO and Nürburgring logos on the integrated headrest. A numbered edition badge on the seat provides additional confirmation that the buyer has acquired an exclusive rarity.
The Sportster CS has also given birth to another special version, one particularly designed for comfortable entry and exit in SUVs and off-road vehicles: the RECARO Cross Sportster CS, featuring a lightweight shell combining the strengths of a metal seat structure with an ultra-thin reinforced polymer backrest. With its projecting side bolsters on the backrest, the seat offers excellent shoulder and trunk support while stabilizing the body even against lateral forces.
