New top-of-the-range sports coupé: the Audi RS5 with RECARO shell seats

Its breathtaking performance and concentrated power take the RS5 from 0 to 100 km/h in only 4.6 seconds, hardly surprising given the standard seven-speed, double clutch gearbox and the engine’s 430 Nm of torque. The top-of-the-range model in the Audi 5 family produces 450 bhp and has a top speed of 250 km/h. RECARO has made use of its new hybrid construction method to produce the seats of the Audi RS5. With this manufacturing process, RECARO has brought about a revolution in seat design by using plastics for load-bearing structures, as well as in other areas. Conventional seats have heavy, bulky metal structures. The new process allows for significant weight reductions and space savings, together with a wide variety of individual seat designs that have not been possible until now.
