On April 29, 2015, the 16th edition of the “Auto Shanghai” came to an end in the People’s Republic of China. Over the course of 10 days, more than 800,000 visitors and more than 10,000 journalists from around the world visited the new National Center for Exhibition and Convention in China’s most important industrial city. For manufacturers and suppliers, there was again a great opportunity for discussions with potential business partners and media representatives. It is also a very important event for RECARO Automotive Seating for showing its colors in the Asian market. Within the booth of Johnson Controls, RECARO presented itself as a product group of the globally operating company. On the 30-square-meter exhibition space, the fair visitors got a good look at the current RECARO product portfolio. As a highlight, the comfort version of the RECARO Sports Seat Platform made its debut in the Chinese market. There was a great deal of positive feedback for the combination of safety, sporty design, and comfortable seating. In addition, RECARO exhibited the racing shell RECARO P 1300 GT, which is used in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2015 and the new option seats for the Cadillac ATS-V. The RECARO Composite Seat Concept was presented in Shanghai based on the optional seat for sporty Mercedes-AMG vehicles. The start signal for the show was given by two press days, a traditional component of the fair. Here the RECARO team was available to answer questions in numerous interviews with influential trade media representatives. “I am impressed by the strong media interest in RECARO,” said Dr. Christian Debus, vice president and head of the global RECARO Car Seating business. “RECARO Automotive Seating is very well known as a premium seat manufacturer in China. The brand has great appeal, especially in the growing tuning segment.” The trip to China was also a great success for RECARO Commercial Vehicle Seating. “We had discussions of a genuinely technical nature with the journalists. Our presence in China also offered many opportunities to enter into conversation with our local partners in order to better assess the market potential,” said Markus Kussmaul, vice president and head of the business unit RECARO Commercial Vehicle Seating. “In the many discussions, we were confirmed in our strategy of supporting Johnson Controls and our joint-venture partners with our seating expertise in order to develop the business in China. As an example of this cooperation, we exhibited our seat concept, which was developed for the Chinese market in collaboration with our colleagues at Johnson Controls, exemplifying much of what RECARO can offer.”
