From 11th to 13th January, Asian fans of sporty, customised cars came together for the industry’s most important show of the year. Trade visitors, journalists and, of course, fans of attractively designed vehicles came not just from Japan but from the entire Asia-Pacific region to attend the show in the modern trade fair centre north of the Japanese capital. 282,659 visitors were counted this year over the three days of the show. Exhibitors included every Japanese carmaker, plus well-known vehicle equipment providers and after-market and customisation specialists. On a stand of some 240 square metres RECARO Automotive Seating showcased 34 RECARO seats, including as our highlight at the show the RECARO Pure Seating concept. This attractive, completely novel lightweight construction seat could also be seen at the show already fitted in Mazda’s latest roadster. This innovative RECARO product will in future be used in a limited edition of the MX5. Also on show on our stand were the new RECARO P1300 GT racing seats and, for the first time ever, the RECARO SP-X Avant, available only in Japan. Dr Christian Debus, head of the global car seat division at RECARO Automotive Seating, was extremely happy with the company’s appearance at the Tokyo Auto Salon: “We had one of the most attractive presentations at the show – as evidenced by the huge crowds of RECARO fans flocking to our stand every day!”
