In 1959 the Swedish automobile manufacturer Volvo patented the three-point seat belt. Congratulations to the anniversary!

The safety belt: one of the eight biggest inventions in the last 100 years. In the last 60 years the safety-belt saved more than a million human lives and even more from serious injury. The first vehicle which was equipped with a three-point seat belt was the Volvo PV544.
In 1971, RECARO presented the first car seat with integrated seat belt as a concept survey – the RECARO safety seat. It was equipped with 4-point-belt which softly caught the body on impact.
Seat and safety belt are the most important components in regards to direct occupant protection in the motorsport, car and commercial vehicle sector – seat and belt are one safety system.
