Every year it’s one of the highlights on the calendar for motorsport fans: the Dakar Rally – regardless of whether it leads as it traditionally did through the North African desert or, as now, through South America – it attracts a huge following. For many years, RECARO Automotive Seating has been a partner, sponsor and supplier to numerous successful top teams. And that was the case again in 2013. This year’s Dakar Rally, which has just finished, was won by the Stéfane Peterhansel/Jean-Paul Cottret team in an X-raid Mini ALL4, a car fitted with RECARO seats. The entire X-raid team and its Minis were once again equipped this year by RECARO Automotive Seating. In addition to the first place, X-raid drivers in Minis with RECARO seats took 3rd, 4th, 12th and 48th place as well. One vehicle failed to finish. This year, the Dakar Rally covered a total of 8,574 kilometres, of which 4,155 kilometres were demanding special stages. Of 162 starters only 94 made it to the finish.
