PARTNERSHIP FOR NEW TOURING CAR RACING SERIES: OPEL MOTORSPORT RELIES ON RECARO IN THE TCR

On the third weekend of April (April 15 to 17, 2016), the first season of the new German Touring Car Championship ADAC TCR Germany starts in Oschersleben. It is part of the TCR series that takes place worldwide in various countries and regions. The new championship with near-series compact class vehicles from various manufacturers promises exciting motor racing at financially attractive conditions. RECARO Automotive Seating will be equipping the new Astra TCR of Opel Motorsport with racing shells of the Pro Racer SPG type. “We are very happy about the decision by Opel Motorsport to use RECARO racing shells in all Astra TCRs,” says Frank Link, Head of Motorsport at RECARO Automotive Seating. “In this way we are continuing a decades-long close cooperation in the new racing series and at the same time will be able to demonstrate our motorsport expertise in an outstanding vehicle in numerous competitions internationally. After all, the champion team of the international TCR competition 2015, Target Competition, is this year relying on Opel – and RECARO.” In 2016 there will be 7 TCR races in the German competition; 11 races are planned internationally. In addition, TCR trophies will be starting in Asia and Europe, as well as national series in Benelux, China, Italy, Portugal, Thailand, and the USA. Near-series, inexpensive touring cars with front-wheel drive and two-liter turbo engines with some 330 hp make the rounds in the TCR. Two sprint races are held each race weekend. The TCR is aimed at young talent and private drivers enthusiastic about motorsports worldwide. “The TCR is an ideal platform for offering real racing touring cars at attractive conditions to our customers both nationally and internationally,” says Opel Motorsport Director Jörg Schrott. “For us, RECARO is the right partner in the Astra TCR project.
