Johnson Controls acquires Keiper and Recaro Automotive

By combining own competencies with the know-how and products of Keiper and Recaro Automotive Johnson Controls will form a newly structured business unit. Keiper will become part of the product division "Metal and Mechanisms", bringing together all competencies of the new company in the field of metal components and structures for automotive seats. Recaro Automotive and Keiper’s commercial vehicle seat business will be combined in the new Product division "Special Seats". Both new divisions will be part of Johnson Controls’ business unit "Seating Components". As part of the transaction, Johnson Controls acquires the licensing rights for the exclusive global use of the Recaro premium-trademark for the automotive industry. With the closing of the transaction Johnson Controls acquires 10 locations of Keiper and three locations of Recaro Automotive globally, including 4,750 employees. Recaro Aircraft Seating, Recaro Child Safety and Recaro Home are not part of this acquisition and will remain as part of Putsch Holding in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Also excluded are Keiper’s operations, business and entity in Brazil.
