The manufacturers Scania and Renault Trucks have been on the commercial vehicle customer list of RECARO Automotive Seating for three years. For Scania, RECARO produces premium seats for all current series and the latest generation of trucks of the Swedish Volkswagen subsidiary. Scania will introduce the new R-series and S-series with RECARO seats aboard the cabs, which were completely redesigned from an ergonomic point of view.
For Renault Trucks, all seats of the Euro 6-series T (long-haul), C (construction vehicles), and K (heavy construction deployment) come from RECARO series production.
Furthermore, RECARO supplies German crane manufacturer Tadano Faun with driver seats for all-terrain cranes.
All seats for OEM customers are based on RECARO’s highly modular platform for commercial vehicle seats. In addition to maximum stability, the highest safety and excellent ergonomics, customer satisfaction is the top priority for the design and engineering teams. The modularity of the system enables a wide range of options that is well received by the customers. There are currently 67 different seat variants supplied to Renault Trucks, and at Scania the total is well over 1,000 due to the large number of optional extras for seating equipment.
Like the OEMs, RECARO uses a carry-over part strategy for its seat structures, in which the company relies on millions of proven standard components from automobile manufacturing. In addition, the modern production facilities were designed in Poland’s Skarbimierz for a high volume of product types, for example with the use of flexible bills of materials and a special Manufacturing Execution System. This allows RECARO to precisely synchronize the series production and deliver the seats just-in-sequence to OEM plants if required. The 2,500-square-meter RECARO plant in Skarbimierz near Wroclaw currently manufacturers up to 100,000 commercial vehicle seats annually.
The company is pursuing its long-term strategy of establishing itself as an innovative premium manufacturer in the global commercial vehicle market: This includes continuous expansion of its product and service portfolio on the one hand and additional acquisition of new customers in Europe and the commercial vehicle markets in Asia and the Americas on the other. In the process, RECARO uses intensive networking opportunities with the global footprint of the parent company Johnson Controls.
