RECARO Commercial Vehicle Seating presents seating concept for autonomously driving trucks

Kaiserslautern, Germany, September 5, 2018 – In the digitally networked commercial vehicle of the future, the use and requirement profile in the cabin changes during what is known as platooning, or automated convoy travel: the drivers of automatically controlled trucks could, for example, take their rest periods or do organizational work on a laptop (with corresponding changes to legislation) during convoy operation.

RECARO Commercial Vehicle Seating worked intensively on this newly defined role for professional drivers for its “Seating tomorrow” demonstrator: At the IAA 2018, the premium seat manufacturer will be presenting a concept for driver and passenger seats that will be able to be used as a comfortable workplace, relaxation zone or daybed. This concept includes innovative, digitally controlled comfort and safety functions for driver activation (massage, mobilization) and monitoring of body functions. The complete RECARO seat portfolio for the aftermarket in Europe and North America will also be on display at the booth.

At the IAA 2018 in Hall 16, booth C12, Adient will be presenting current series seating models from the cabins of European, Indian, and Chinese truck manufacturers and, as part of its global growth strategy, will be addressing additional commercial vehicle regions with specific seating solutions.
