Hermann Gassner Jr./Katharina Wüstenhagen (GER) completed the Jordan Rally hardly facing any problems and meeting almost all guidelines. At first the aim was simply to complete the first two-day stage through the desert, as safely as possible, but also as quickly as possible. But the final result was even better: in the end the debut of the young man from Bavaria at the Rally World Championships 2011 will be remembered for two special stage best times – a very promising start. The fact that these times got him onto the podium, despite time-consuming tyre damage yesterday, is also clear evidence of the budding talent of this youngster. Today, the second and last day, saw Gassner achieve not only one fastest time, but also two second fastest times – and that secured his place on the podium. Red Bull Skoda Team Manager Raimund Baumschlager: “This was a really mature performance from Hermann, who stays calm even under difficult circumstances. His two fastest times should not be underestimated – and ultimately it got him onto the podium, although we did benefit from a few breakdowns. A great step forward for Hermann!”
