As part of the European Truck Racing Championship, RECARO brand ambassador Ellen Lohr and her driver colleagues visited the Nürburgring last weekend. The fifth round of the season was again one of the highlights of the racing year – especially as the ADAC Truck Grand Prix celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2015. Truck fans from all over Europe could not miss this anniversary event: With 114,000 visitors, the Grand Prix was once again a complete success. Between the exciting truck races, there was a colorful supporting program with live music, good food, and stunt shows in the Eifel mountain range. In addition to the classic racing audience, the event cannot be missed by country fans, representatives from the automotive and supplier industry, and truck drivers – the trucker camp was well stocked with more than 1,000 trucks. Of course, RECARO Automotive Seating needed to be there: The Promotion-Mobile of our brand was the meeting point for fans and customers from all over Germany and neighboring European countries. On offer was not only insight into the product range but also the chance to win great prizes on the Wheel of Fortune. The highlights included T-shirts and trucker caps with custom airbrush artwork. This was a compelling offer that brought many interested visitors to the booth. “I look forward to the Truck Grand Prix at the Nürburgring every year. Here you have the opportunity to enter into a conversation with people who are on the highways every day and know our seats by heart. This feedback is vital to us – and it is also fun,” says Manfred Nickels, Senior Marketing Manager at RECARO Automotive Seating. There was also a huge crowd at the autograph session of racing legend Ellen Lohr: She not only knows how to tame 1,150 hp of her truck but is also well accepted by her fans – no chance for air and graces! For the exceptional German driver, this was a mixed and rather exciting “home game”: After a spectacular crash on Saturday, the team of Truck Sport Bernau needed to do a great deal of work to make the truck ready again. This was rewarded by a conciliatory eighth place in the second race on Sunday. “I felt really good in the truck and am happy with the lap times. In Sunday’s training, we were able to get as close as was seldom the case in this season. Now it’s about honing the last tenths,” says Lohr, who is currently in ninth position in the overall standings. Check out her German language review of the weekend at: www.racingtv.de
