Chris Forsberg is this year’s champion of the Formula Drift. Secured in his RECARO racing shell, the American drifted into the top slots in the last race of the season in Irwindale, California, thus taking home the overall victory ahead of his Norwegian competitor Fredric Aasbo. Throughout the entire season, it was a head-to-head race, making the decision a nail-biter in the final race on October 11, 2014. In the end, Forsberg was able to prevail with his Nissan 370Z in front of more than 15,000 spectators, making him King of the Drifters for the second time since 2009. In the USA, the Formula Drift is the most important series in drift motorsports. Since 2004 the drivers have been forcing their cars across the curves. Forsberg has been there from the very start and is among the most successful drivers. This is all the more remarkable since he has never had professional driver training. He has his skills “from the street” in the truest sense of the phrase, has long been a part of the American amateur drift scene, and has effectively trained himself there. Quite an achievement!
