Following to RECARO RACING TEAM foundation in 2019, RECARO RALLY TEAM was launched in 2023. The rally race is the origin of RECARO JAPAN. We hold "RECARO Cup" in Japan and was leading brand to sponsor and support Japanese Rally Championship. In the rally, drivers race for time at the severe road condition and long distance. Therefore the seat performance is the most important element for drivers. It should reduce the burden placed on the body and fatigue while driving, while at the same time providing safety. Thus Japanese top rally drivers, Fumio Nutahara, Toshihiro Arai, Norihiko Katsuta use RECARO seats only for the machine. From now on, we learn more about this rally race and connituie this team activity for the future.
The team selected TOYOTA Yaris which is classified at JN5 (under 1500cc, FF). It is almost the same as general road car, but changed suspension, LSD and equipped with roll gauge and other safety parts. They preview the course at the first day of the race, and are allowed to use 45 minutes only for car maintenance during the race. It is quite simple.
For the rally car, Yaris, selected PRO RACER RMS which is developed for race track use. It makes us easier to feel car movement and perfectly control itself. Also the seat strongly supports our scapula. This means that it is not always necessary to shape the should support form bigger. Therefore it doesn't make you feel cramped in steering operation.
The driving position for the rally race is different from track race. So we insert optional pad at lumber support and improve pelvis support as well. Possibly it is good to add urtahan form into seat cushion for abosrbption of road vibration at rally race.
